Porsche Cars North America Celebrated a Landmark Groundbreaking
Atlanta. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars, Cayenne SUVs and the Panamera four-door sports sedan, today celebrated a landmark groundbreaking of its new headquarters, to be known as One Porsche Drive. Located adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the 26.4-acre site is the first complex to be built in the “Aerotropolis Atlanta” business district.
Employees from Porsche Cars North America and its affiliates Porsche Financial Services, Porsche Business Services, and Porsche Consulting attended the event alongside executives from Porsche Group companies in North America and Germany, as well as local dignitaries. Most of Porsche’s North American operations will be consolidated under one roof once the new facility is finished in the second half of 2014.
“Porsche’s presence has been embraced by Atlanta and the state of Georgia for the last 14 years,” said Matthias Mueller, President and CEO of Porsche AG. “We’re happy to reciprocate the sentiment with this new facility, which contributes to the state’s economic development and also adds a bit of glamor to the local community.”
Mueller also reminded the audience of the lasting love affair of the Americans with Porsche, which goes back to the early fifties and is a powerful incentive for the company to safeguard and nurture this extraordinary relationship. “Our investment here in Atlanta is a testament to our belief in the future of this great nation and, above all, our confidence in this very important market,” he said.
Ultimately, One Porsche Drive will house 400 employees, including 100 jobs that will be new to Georgia. In addition to corporate offices, it will also be comprised of a Technical Service and Training Center, a Conference Center and a Museum. As an industry first, the Porsche headquarters campus will feature a Customer Experience Center including a 1.6-mile test track and handling road course to showcase the capabilities of Porsche’s industry-leading vehicles.
“This world-class facility underscores our commitment to customers and dealers in the United States, which remains the single largest market for Porsche vehicles,” said Detlev von Platen, President and CEO, Porsche Cars North America. “Today’s ceremony also symbolizes Porsche putting down permanent roots here in Atlanta, a city we have proudly called home since 1998.”
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Georgia Governor Nathan Deal were among the event attendees.
“I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to the first tenant of the Aerotropolis development site,” said Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. “Porsche’s presence here underscores the City of Atlanta’s continuing commitment to attract world-class companies and iconic brands to our city. Furthermore, it sends a clear and unmistakable signal to other companies that Atlanta is open for business.”
Neighboring facilities currently include the Delta Air Lines world headquarters, Wachovia Bank’s principal processing center and the world’s busiest airport, which served more than 92 million travelers in 2011.
“Porsche’s new headquarters is a terrific asset to Georgia’s economy and a unique travel destination for the millions of travelers who arrive in our great state each year,” said Nathan Deal, Governor of Georgia. “I’m confident One Porsche Drive will become a renowned address that stands for vision, innovation and success – as well as one of the greatest driving experiences in the world.”

Audi to introduce four new TDI® clean diesel models
Audi of America announces the arrival of the new TDI® clean diesel models for the Audi A8, A7, A6 and Q5 to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The addition of these four models marks the first time Audi will feature a full lineup of TDI clean diesel vehicles in the U.S. as they join the updated Q7 model. Each TDI vehicle delivers up to 30% better fuel economy and 30% lower carbon dioxide emissions than gasoline engines*, resulting in longer range and fewer trips to the fuel pump. By having more density than gasoline, diesel packs more energy content in the same amount of fuel, which helps maximize the miles per gallon when that energy is released during a more powerful combustion cycle.
The TDI clean diesel engine lineup adds to Audi’s list of advanced technologies that help enhance fuel efficiency, including Audi ultra® lightweight technology, such as the use of aluminum, and the AFS® frame technology. “Owners of Audi TDI engines have helped save over 4 million gallons of gasoline, or the equivalent of more than 240,000 barrels of foreign oil, since the introduction of Audi TDI to the U.S. in 2009**,” said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America. ” And, TDI technology delivers better fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance.” In order to fuel the conversation surrounding the benefits of TDI technology in the U.S., Audi will use the hashtag, #FuelForThought and invite fans to join the conversation through a social experience at the display and online. Audi A8 TDIThe flagship of the Audi brand, the A8 TDI, makes a powerful statement in achieving a manufacturer estimated fuel efficiency of 24 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway*. Jaguar Partners with Citation Jet Pilots Association
Jaguar is pleased to announce a new partnership with Citation Jet Pilots, Owner-Pilot Association (CJP), an organization for owner-pilots whose mission is to operate their aircraft more safely and proficiently. As the exclusive automotive partner and first non-aviation partner, Jaguar will support CJP events with drive opportunities and various promotional initiatives.
“One of our goals at CJP is to engage our members with premier brands that have similar overall standards along with entertaining experiential opportunities,” said Ed Turley, CJP President. “This partnership with Jaguar achieves just that and will enrich our member benefits.”
The annual CJP convention was held last week (Sept. 12-16) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with a goal to provide programs and activities for owner-pilots that will educate and entertain Citation owner-pilots through networking and a series of speakers. David Pryor, Brand Vice President, Jaguar North America, is also a pilot and was one of the scheduled speakers. Approximately 100 Citation aircraft were on site, along with over three hundred members and guest attendees. “Jaguar is excited to be the official vehicle partner for CJP,” said Pryor. “Working with an association accustomed to quality and technology driven products makes this an ideal partnership. The high performance, speed and dynamic handling inherent both in jets and the current Jaguar model line-up, especially the 550 hp XKR-S, surely will resonate with the association’s membership.” As part of the convention, Jaguar brought a custom driving experience to give members an opportunity to get behind the wheel of the company’s highest performance cars with professional drivers as personal coaches. Porsche Boxster Named 2013 Automobile Magazine Design of the Year
Atlanta. AUTOMOBILE Magazine's worldwide team of staff and contributors has selected the new Porsche Boxster as the Design of the Year for 2013.
“With this Boxster, Porsche design chief Michael Mauer has brought the Porsche design team into a realm it has never before occupied, with pure style and pure functionality fused in products of exceptional elegance,” said Robert Cumberford, design editor of AUTOMOBILE Magazine.
The third-generation Boxster, revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, benefits from a wholly-redesigned body and chassis. With a longer wheelbase, larger wheels and a new interior concept, the mid-engine sports car takes design cues from the iconic Carrera GT and 550 Spyder models from its lineage.
The AUTOMOBILE Magazine 2013 “of the Year” awards are currently featured on the publication's website and will appear in the January 2013 issue.
